Monstera Adansonii develops large oval holes on the leaves as they mature, giving them the appearance of Swiss cheese. Thus, having the nickname of 'Swiss cheese Plant'.

The holes are designed to capture the sunlight efficiently as they typically dwell deep in the tropical rainforest. Adding on, the holes are used to resist high winds by simply letting the breeze pass through them.

Fun Fact: T he holes on the leaves are actually called “window panes”.
